11 NEONATAL ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (NALS)

1.         Upon delivery:  Dry thoroughly.  Stimulate by rubbing back or tapping soles of feet.  These steps should be done quickly.  Remove wet linen.

2.                  Keep surrounding area as warm as possible.

Wrap dry linens and cover head with cap or stockinette.

3.                  Position and secure airway.  Suction mouth first then nose.

4.                  Give “blow-by” O2 at 6L/min (unless assisted ventilations are needed).

5.                  CALL FOR INTERCEPT IF INDICATED.

6.                  Contact Medical Control.
