Bayfield-Ashland Counties EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES October 27, 2011

The meeting was called to order by Gary Victorson, Vice-President of the Council.

MINUTES - A motion was made by Dan Clark, seconded by Merrilee Carlson, to approve the August and September meeting minutes. Motion carried.

FINANCIAL REPORT - Steve Cordes reported a starting balance of $3844.16. A payment was made to Advantix for the website of $11.85 bringing the total balance to $3832.31.

Motion made by Bob Rhiel, seconded by Pete Schenck, to approve the financial report. Motion carried.

Checks were received for $225 from Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival and the North Central EMS Cooperative for $5.98.

Expenses were reported by Steve for stamps, envelopes, etc. of $23.41.

Motion made by Dan Clark, seconded by Jenny Kurilla, to pay the expenses of $23.41 as reported. Motion carried.

BUDGET 2012 - The budget of 2012 was proposed with no changes suggested.

Motion made by Dan Clark, seconded by Pete Schenck, to approve the budget as proposed for 2012. Motion carried.

HELICOPTER EMS - LifeLink III reported a new CEO who is interested in assisting local folks with educational needs. Additional discussion about use of fixed wing jet as an alternative venue for hospital/interfacility transport. The members were reminded to call early in a scenario - before at the side of a patient. A BLS ambulance should not be parked waiting for HEMS.

COMMUNICATIONS - Bayfield County reported hearing chain saw noise over the repeater frequency.

BASO - A reminder to the membership from the Sheriffs Department that when asked to go on standby, please standby where directed until the deputy arrives on scene and says the scene is safe.

LAKE SUPERIOR RTAC (Regional Trauma Advisory Council) - The Performance Improvement committee of the Lake Superior RTAC is looking at c-spine data during interfacility transports.

MMC - There are new faces in the emergency room.

CONCEALED CARRY - Wisconsin is the 48th state to make it a constitutional right to carry a concealed firearm. Discussion. It would be helpful if a uniform policy would be developed by the EMS Council. Dan Clark, Pete Schenck, and Gary Victorson will report back.

NEXT MEETING - The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 1st at MMC/Ashland.

Motion made by Jenny Kurilla, seconded by Merrilee Carlson, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
