Present:  Dr. John Schulz, Gary Victorson, Jan Victorson, Merrilee Carlson, Cindy Lazorik, Tam Hofman, Chuck Elton, Rob Puls, Karl Kanneberg, Ron Brendalen, Theresa Gunderson, Dan Clark, Dan Diamon and Dorothy Tank.

 Gary Victorson, Chair, called the meeting to order at 6:40 PM. 

 Field Spinal Clearance Protocol: Dr. John Schulz will be conducting a training session on Field Spinal Clearance on December 16, 2004 6:00 PM in the Gull / Stockton Island Room.

 Marc Kits:  All ambulance services in Ashland/Bayfield Counties have received the kits.  Each service is responsible to follow the guidelines for use set up by the State.  At this time it is uncertain how the expiration of these kits will be dealt with.

 Pediatric AED Protocols: Revision of the State recommendations will be sent out to the Service Directors soon.  The previous recommendations that were sent out have been placed on hold.  Dr. Schulz recommends using an adult AED pad and machine if a pediatric AED is not available.  For a small-framed child where the pads may overlap it is recommended to place one pad anteriorly and one pad posteriorly.

 SOG’s:  Discussed reviewing and revising the current SOG format.  Dr. Schulz presented various formats used by services across the state and county.   Also discussed the significance of services receiving feedback on the audit results and how the protocols could be incorporated into the EMT refreshers.  At the present time the EMT refresher has to follow the State curriculum and local protocols cannot be implemented.  Dr. Schulz to make contact with the State to explore how to implement State and local SOG’s into the refresher.

 The next MDAC meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 6:30 pm to start reviewing the SOG’s.
