The September/Annual Meeting of the Bayfield-Ashland Counties EMS Council was called to order by Dean Hambrecht, President of the Council. The meeting was held at The Spot Supper Club in Iron River.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

MDAC – Gary Victorson reported that the Medical Director Advisory Committee reported that they have been reviewing the medical suggested operating guidelines. New copies will be distributed to services upon completion.

BYLAWS COMMITTEE – Jan Victorson distributed proposed revisions to the bylaws. Consensus to consider bylaws changes at the October Council meeting.

STATE ISSUES:

FAP FUNDING - The State EMS Board is looking at distributing the training portion of the FAP (funding assistance program) funds directly to the ambulance services rather than paying the training institutions directly. There is projected to be little impact on services.

RTAC – Regional Trauma Advisory Committees are being formed throughout the state with proposed regions. We may want to advocate to keep our RTAC region the same as our Level A Hazmat response region in order to have the same players working together. In addition, Hospital bio-terrorism planning is becoming an important issue with large amounts of grant funding available. Jan reminded the Council members that representation at upcoming meetings is essential to assure involvement of EMS providers in decision making.

The list of present officers was reviewed to include:

Gary Victorson – Vice-President

Jan Victorson – Secretary

Chuck Elton – Treasurer

Motion made and seconded to retain the present officers. Motion carried.

ELECTION OF MDAC MEMBERS:

The Bylaws wording related to MDAC was reviewed. The list of present MDAC representatives was also reviewed to include:

Chuck Elton – Washburn

Rob Puhls – Great Divide

Dorothy Tank - Glidden

Gary Victorson – Iron River/Mason

Motion made to retain the same MDAC representatives for another year. Motion carried.

Motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
