07 Congestive HEART FAILURE / PULMONARY EDEMA
(Presence of acute rales with respiratory distress – no fever)
1. Secure and maintain airway. Consider C-spine precautions.
2. Administer O2 to maintain SaO2 >95% (90% if hx COPD)
3. Talk to patient and reassure to decrease anxiety. 4. Complete Primary Survey. Initiate BCLS as needed. 5. CALL FOR INTERCEPT FOR CONTINUED RESPIRATORY DISTRESS. 6. Be ready to attach defibrillator if patient’s condition deteriorates. 7. Obtain Secondary Survey, History, Vital Signs. 8. Place in position of comfort. 9. Contact Medical Control. 10. Monitor Vital Signs and Condition en route.
