06 Chest PainSTANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINES #6 CHEST PAIN 1. Secure and maintain airway. Consider C-spine precautions. 2. Administer O2 to maintain SaO2 >95% (90% if history of COPD) 3. Talk to patient and reassure to decrease anxiety. 4. Complete Primary Survey. Initiate BCLS as needed. 5. CALL FOR INTERCEPT FOR CONTINUED CHEST PAIN. 6. Be ready to attach defibrillator if patient’s condition deteriorates. 7. Obtain Secondary Survey, History, Vital Signs. 8. Place patient in position of comfort. 9. Contact Medical Control 10. Monitor Vital Signs and condition enroute. Aspirin Guidelines 1. If no contraindications, administer Aspirin 325 mg by mouth. (1 adult tablet or 4 chewable baby Aspirin 81 mg each) 2. Document specifics of administration or non-administration. Aspirin Indications Aspirin Contraindications Chest pain thought to be cardiac Allergy to Aspirin Age over 30 years Asthma provoked by Aspirin Absence of chest trauma Active bleeding ulcer Decreased gag reflex Glasgow Coma Score <9 Recent influenza (<7 days) |
