03 Asthma / COPD / SOB
1. Establish level of consciousness.
2. Secure and maintain airway. Consider C-spine precautions.
3. Administer O2 to maintain SaO2>95% (90% if history of COPD)
4. Talk to patient to decrease anxiety.
5. Complete Primary Survey. Initiate BCLS as indicated. *Wheezing or Respiratory Distress - Call MEDICAL CONTROL to consider Albuterol Administration.
6. CALL FOR INTERCEPT IF INDICATED.
7. Be ready to attach defibulator if patient's condition deteriorates.
8. Obtain Secondary Survey, History, Vital signs.
9. Place in position of comfort.
10. Contact Medical Control.
11. Monitor Vital Signs and Condition enroute.
Albuteral Nebulizer Guidelines 1. Direct order from Medical Control necessary to administer.
2. EMT will verify correct medication (not expired), dosage, and repeat order back to Medical Control.
