19 UNCONSCIOUSSTANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINES
# 19 UNCONSCIOUS 1. Establish unresponsiveness. 2. Secure and maintain airway. Consider C-spine precautions. 3. Administer O2 to maintain SaO2>95% (90% if COPD) (Ventilate with Bag-Valve-Mask or Pocket Mask at highest flow O2 available – as needed.) (If certified, insert Advanced Airway per Airway Guidelines – as needed.) 5. Perform glucometry according to Glucose Meter Guidelines. *Blood glucose less than 60 = CALL MEDICAL CONTROL to consider Glucagon administration. 6. CALL FOR INTERCEPT. 7. Be ready to attach defibrillator if patients condition deteriorates. 8. Associated symptoms = follow appropriate SOG. 9. Obtain history from bystander if possible. Look for signs of trauma, needle tracks, pill bottles, etc. 10. Place in Recovery Position. 11. Contact Medical Control. 12. Monitor Vital Signs enroute.
