15 RESPIRATORY ARREST

1.                  Establish level of consciousness.

2.                  Secure and maintain airway.  Consider C-spine precautions.

Ventilate with Bag-Valve-Mask or Pocket Mask at highest flow O2 available.

3.                  Complete Primary Survey.  Initiate BCLS as needed.

If certified, insert Advanced Airway per Airway Guidelines.

4.                  CALL FOR INTERCEPT.

5.                  Obtain history from bystander if possible.

6.                  Be ready to attach defibrillator if patient’s condition deteriorates.

7.                  Associated symptoms = follow appropriate SOG.

8.                  Obtain Secondary Survey, Vital Signs, Neuro Exam.

9.                  Contact Medical Control.

10.              Monitor Vital Signs and Condition en route.
