13 POISONING

1.                  Secure and maintain airway.  Consider C-spine precautions.

2.                  Administer O2 to maintain SaO2 >95% (90% if hx COPD).

3.                  Complete Primary Survey.  Initiate BCLS as needed.

4.                  CALL FOR INTERCEPT IF UNSTABLE OR CONDITION DETERIORATES.

5.                  Be ready to attach defibrillator if patient’s condition deteriorates.

6.                  Obtain Secondary Survey, History, Vital Signs.

7.                  Determine type and amount of poisonous material.

1.         DO NOT ENDANGER YOURSELF.                          1.         Determine time of ingestion.

            Notify Hazmat as necessary.                                                 Bring containers in if possible.
