> 10 LABOR AND CHILDBIRTH
10 LABOR AND CHILDBIRTH1. Secure and maintain airway. Consider C-spine precautions. 2. Administer O2 to maintain SaO2 >95% (90% if hx COPD) 3. Talk to patient and reassure to decrease anxiety. 4. Complete Primary Survey. Visually inspect the perineum. Initiate BCLS as needed. 5. If childbirth is imminent, follow Emergency Childbirth Guidelines. 6. CALL FOR INTERCEPT IF UNSTABLE OR CONDITION DETERIORATES. 7. Be ready to attach defibrillator if condition deteriorates. 8. Associated symptoms = follow appropriate SOG. 9. Obtain Secondary Survey, History, Vital Signs. Place in position of comfort. Encourage patient to lie on left side. Determine onset and pattern of labor. 10. Contact Medical Control. 11. Monitor Vital Signs and Condition en route. |
